Vedic Maths course is one of those courses today which offers fun-filled learning and creates interest for Maths in children. As a parent, the biggest problem at hand is how to remove fear of math from the minds of our young kids. The sad part of today’s school based education system is that the teachers must follow a fixed curriculum that has to be completed in a time bound way, and often many children are left behind in this rat race for various reasons.
As an example if a child misses a couple of classes for any reason (example he may fall sick unfortunately, or may go out on a vacation with family) then it is really difficult for him to catch up since the teacher has moved forward to new topics by the time the child returns back. Also, most kids hesitate to ask their doubts in a big class, and it is a fact that today schools generally have more than 50 students in a single class. Vedic Maths tricks are a perfect solution to this problem and let us understand how Vedic Maths helps in such cases.
How Vedic Maths Tricks benefits the child in numerous ways
- Creates interest in Maths by virtue of its fun based learning methodology
- Immediate results
- Sharpens the memory and improves cognitive abilities
- Save precious time in competitive exams
- Boosts confidence
Can parents teach some basic Vedic Maths Tricks to their child?
Ofcourse yes. Parents are the first teachers of the child and they play an important role in shaping up the child’s future. While Vedic Maths is very vast and covers many advanced topics like calculus and trigonometry also, parents should start with the very basic foundational tricks if they would like to motivate their child towards this beautiful art of learning Maths.
We would recommend the following 5 Vedic Maths Tricks every parent should teach their child:
Trick-1 A Squaring Numbers Ending in 5 example 35 x 35
Steps
- Take the first digit 3
- Multiply it by the next consecutive number i.e. 4
- And append 25
Actual calculation
- 3 x 4 = 12
- Append 25 a 1225 is the final answer
Trick-2 A Multiplication by 99 example 89 x 99
Steps
- Subtract 1 from the number
- Subtract the original number from 100 or find the complement 100-89=11
- Combine them
Actual Calculation
- 89 – 1 = 88
- 100 – 89 = 11
- Combine above two results and final answer = 88 11
Trick-3 A Multiplying Numbers Near 100 example 96 x 97
Steps
- Find how much less than 100 they are
- Cross-subtract to get the first part
- then multiply the deficiencies
- Combine the two parts
Actual Calculation
- 100 – 97 = 3
- 96 – 3 = 93
- The two deficiencies are (100 – 96) and (100 – 97), so multiplying them 4 x 3 = 12
- Combining the two results à 93 12
Trick-4 A Multiplying by 11 example 43 x 11
Steps
- Add the two digits of the main number
- Put the some of the two digits in between the digits of main number
- This till give you the final result
Actual Calculation
- 4 + 3 = 7
- Put 7 in between the main number, i.e. 4 7 3 is the final answer
Trick-5 A Subtracting any numbers from bigger multiples of 10 like 100 or 1000
Example: Subtract 573 from 1000
Steps
- Subtracting the first 2 digits from 9
- Subtract only the last digit from 10
Actual Calculation
- On subtracting the first 2 digits from 9, you will get 4 and 2
- Subtract only the last digit from 10 and you will get 7
- The final answer is to combine all these digits à 4 2 7
What is the Right Age to Learn Vedic Maths?
As a chief trainer of Mathcruise, and as an international Vedic Maths expert certified from www.vedicmmaths.org by esteemed Sir James Glover, I have got an opportunity to share my views on this interesting question on many platforms. In fact I have shared a detailed blog on my web portal (Right Age to Learn Vedic Maths) which I would recommend you to go through once for detailed insight.
In summary, 11 years plus of age is considered perfect to start learning Vedic Math Tricks, since by the age of 11 the children have understood the basic arithmetic and foundation Maths concepts in school. As a result they are able to relate the high speed that Vedic Maths offers, as compared to traditional maths and this helps to create a fun factor. In addition to the speed, children at this age can also very much compare the less number of steps required in Vedic Maths approach as against traditional Maths, and these real benefits attract them to Vedic Maths.
So you may see many schools admitting kids even at the age of 4 or 5 years into Vedic Maths course, I personally feel it’s a waste of parents’ money and the students’ time. At Mathcruise we ensure that we admit students only at the right optimal age so we can offer best value for your money and time. Hop on to the interesting learning journey of Vedic Maths with us today for further deep dive.
